Reviewing the Las Vegas Grand Prix collaborations

Updated: Nov 27

You know I LOVE brand collaborations, especially the most unexpected ones, and if there's one Grand Prix that can deliver exactly that it's the Vegas Grand Prix. Let's review this year's collabs:

  • F1 x Lego - BOY was I excited when I heard about this collab, and I'm OBSESSED. I honestly can't believe we had to wait this long to have ALL the F1 teams in Lego sets. There's so much detail that went into the cars' designs, each car has a different side pod, wing, floor etc. it's incredible. And the Lego City sets are just adorable, I love them. Will I buy these sets for all the children (and adults) in my life? Yes.

  • Las Vegas Grand Prix x Las Vegas Raiders

The only info I could find was these 4 products, apparently there was a cap as well but I could find a photo of it. "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all" so I will stick to that...

  • Las Vegas Grand Prix x Vegas Golden Knights

For the Grand Prix, the Vegas Golden Knights came out with a special edition of their jersey designed by The Wild Collective. The woman's version has sequins on it, the man version has a car. It's not a bad design at all, it's actually pretty cool, but I don't see the relationship between F1, Football and Hockey. It's not like any of these teams were investors in F1 teams or related to F1 in any way. It's just a collab for a collab, for marketing purposes. Not much thought went into the merch they could offer and I'm not a big fan.

  • Las Vegas Grand Prix x The Wild Collective

To complete the Golden Knights collab, The Wild Collective also designed a few pieces only focusing on F1. Some elements were interesting like the jacket with the F1 LV GP dice, but again there's so many clichés of Vegas like the sequins, the gold lamé jacket etc. I think subtle hints are great but when the whole design of a product is based on clichés it's too gimmicky for me, I wouldn't wear that. I liked some of their pieces and the brand does cool stuff so it's a bit a miss for me but it's still interesting.

  • Las Vegas Grand Prix x Peanuts

Okkkkk unpopular opinion I know butttttt I really don't like Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. I mean this line for kids is absolutely adorable, the little jacket with the whole gang around an F1 car I would MELT if I saw a kid wearing that around the track! But a grown-up... Nah

  • +44 x Golf Wang - I was SO excited when I heard about Lewis' collab with Tyler the Creator!! Literally 2 geniuses, they both have a strong visual identity and super sharp artistic sense so I got very excited. The images are AMAZING, but even if I like some of the pieces I'm not obsessed with the collection. I like the Crewneck and bomber jacket, but the jean jacket and short-sleeve shirt are a no for me. It's still a very cool collab although the prices are unbelievably high...

  • Off White Vegas capsule collection

I was also veryyyyy excited about this capsule collection and maybe it's an unpopular opinion based on the social media comments, but I love this capsule!! I might be biased because I love Off White, but I think the pieces are great. For me, it's the perfect example of how you can balance borrowing codes from racing and mix it with fashionable cuts and proportions. I love the pleated jacket and the little car tag on the shoes is killing me.

  • Malbon Golf x Las Vegas Grand Prix - volume 2

I liked last year's collab, so I was excited to see volume 2. It's very similar to last year's capsule but better in my opinion! They got rid of the unnecessary accessories and focused on the money pieces like the jackets or cool crew necks. The Martini-inspired bomber is absolutely gorgeous, I love the little poker pins too. It's not my favorite collab ever, but it's not bad at all.

  • T-Mobile x Race Service: When I was thinking about the potential collaborations we could see for the Vegas Grand Prix I immediately thought about Race Service. I ADORE Race Service, they look like the coolest company to work for (also if one member of the Race Service team is reading this please hire me), they make pretty cool merch and they are very well known in the motorsport world, especially in the US. They are based in LA which is not that far from Vegas sooooo, it would have made sense. Even though they didn't actually collaborate with F1, they actually did a collab with T-mobile for the Vegas Grand Prix which was gorgeous. Look at the level of detail on each piece it's amazing. I love their style, it's so unique and recognizable. Imagine what they could have done with the F1 license.

So 8(ish) collaborations again for the Vegas Grand Prix, that's impressive! Although I have to admit I preferred last year's collabs. We didn't see a lot of collaborations with teams which is too bad. I was actually expecting some collaborations that didn't happen :

  • A special Tommy capsule: Rocked by George and Lewis of course. Tommy Hilfiger is an American brand so it would have made sense for them to celebrate a US race. I was thinking bomber jacket, pleated jacket, zipped rollneck etc. A wonderful way to finish the season with a bang and take advantage one last time of having Lewis Hamilton as a brand ambassador.

  • Palm Angels x Las Vegas Grand Prix capsule or new Haas x Palm Angels merch: Since they dropped the t-shirt merch for the Miami Grand Prix, Palm Angels have been pretty quiet with their F1 partnership so I guessed they would have dropped new Haas merch or a capsule collection for the Vegas GP.

  • McLaren x Reiss - Reiss dropped their collection with McLaren earlier this year, they also added a special capsule for the Miami Grand Prix which made me think they might do a second capsule drop for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

I know it's not brand collaborations but a little moment to appreciate my favorite liveries of the weekend:

  • Alpine finally delivering Alpink!! I just wish the suits were all pink too.

  • Stake should never change their livery and suit, the flames are just amazing, so aggressive!

  • Visa Cash App with their "sunset sparkles" livery, I love it. This is actually a collaboration with actress, singer, and TV host Keke Palmer. The suiiiiiits, omg, just gorgeous.
